JLOS Recognition Awards

ABOUT

The Annual JLOS Recognition Awards (JRAs) are a highly visible part of JLOS’ aim to set standards of excellence in the administration of Justice and the rule of law by honouring and acknowledging the efforts and achievements of individuals and institutions.

The JLOS Recognition Awards were established in 2014 to acknowledge individuals and institutions that have excelled in key areas of their work and have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance beyond what could reasonably be expected.

Objectives

  • To raise the standard in service-driven justice delivery.
  • To recognise, showcase and uphold professionalism in the administration of justice and rule of law.
  • Honouring leadership, excellence, service, knowledge and hard work.
  • Promoting the good name, profile, image and reputation of JLOS.
  • Recognise innovations for improved service delivery and customer care.

 Eligibility

The awards are open to all JLOS institutions, employees within JLOS member institutions, and partners of the sector in the civil service (other government sectors), civil society, the corporate/business world, the general public, and the media.

Selection Criteria

An Awards sub-committee constituted by the relevant JLOS structures, comprising sector officials of high professional repute, shall be responsible for selecting award recipients. The selection process shall be based on discussions with officials in JLOS institutions and other stakeholders, the performance of officials over time, review of documentation, and annual institutional performance reports submitted to the JLOS Secretariat as the basis for granting awards in a given category.

Awards Ceremony

The annual JLOS Recognition Awards are held annually. The event is attended by a range of dignitaries from all JLOS institutions, other government sectors, civil society, development partners, the media, and the general public. Recipients of awards shall be notified in advance through official communication from the JLOS Secretariat. Officials responsible for presenting the awards will also be informed beforehand and invited to the ceremony.
