The JLOS Secretariat team poses for a group photo with the Principal Judge
The Principal Judge, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, yesterday held high-level discussions with officials from the JLOS Secretariat to strengthen collaboration with the Judiciary and align on key justice-sector priorities. The delegation was led by Ms Rachel Odoi Musoke, Senior Technical Adviser, together with her deputy, Canon Sam Wairagala.
The meeting, held at the Judiciary Headquarters, focused on key areas including child justice, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), digital transformation, and emerging challenges in the justice sector.
Justice Abodo appreciated the Secretariat’s support to the Judiciary, saying it has contributed to efficient, effective, and timely justice delivery. Ms Rachel Odoi Musoke, Senior Technical Adviser of the JLOS Secretariat, emphasised the need for coordinated approaches to justice sector development, aligning interventions with national priorities.
The meeting highlighted the importance of promoting child-friendly justice, strengthening mediation and ADR mechanisms, and tackling cybercrime.
The JLOS Secretariat will hold a Justice Week in October to mark 25 years of impact in Uganda’s justice sector, providing a platform for public engagement on justice experiences. The Justice Week will also feature a Justice Hackathon, the Justice chain-link model exhibition and the return of the JLOS Recognition Awards. Justice Abodo was in full support of the Justice Week and pledged her full participation.
Justice Abodo stressed the need for continued collaboration, capacity-building, and infrastructure development to modernise Uganda’s courts and deliver justice that meets 21st-century challenges. The meeting signals a renewed push to protect vulnerable groups and improve access to justice.
